North Liberty Elementary School: A great place to learn, teach, lead and succeed.
North Liberty Elementary School is part of the John Glenn School Corporation and is located in beautiful downtown North Liberty. It currently has an enrollment of 496 students. North Liberty Elementary School offers a standard elementary curriculum based on the Indiana's Academic Standards with supplemental programs offered to enrich the learning experience. Recent ISTEP scores indicate that NLES is continuing to score above the state average and is currently the highest performing school in the John Glenn School District with 74.2% of its students passing both the English and Math parts of the ISTEP. The North Liberty staff consists of a full time principal, counselor, two resource teachers, an art teacher, music teacher, health and physical education teacher, certified Bridges instructor, and 18 full time and one half time certified classroom teachers. We share a school nurse, an instrumental music teacher, gifted and talented coordinator, computer coordinator, speech pathologist, and special education coordinator with the other schools in the John Glenn School Corporation. The NLES staff also consists of two secretaries, a computer specialist, a library aide, one JESSE aide, 4 instructional aides, one certified Bridges aide, one head cook, four cafeteria workers, one head custodian, two custodians, and five bus drivers.
North Liberty Elementary provides Before and After School Care for students, and has an Extended Day Care program for kindergarten students. Also, NLES has implemented the Bridges program for grades K-6, the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) in 5th grade, and has trained many teachers in C.L.A.S.S. (Connected Learning Assures Successful Students)
A few of the programs developed by the staff with the help and support of the community and the North Liberty PTA include: Art Club, Spanish Club, French Club, Athletic Teams, Academic Teams, Science Fair, Athletic Camps, Summer School, Outdoor Lab, Talent Show, D.A.R.E., ABBIT Society (A's and B's Because I Try), Reflections Contest, Citizenship Contest, Book Fair, Book-It, Washington D.C trip (taken over spring vacation), Medieval Times trip to Schaumburg, Illinois, Artist in Residence, and Circle the State with Song.
